The Flashback Chameleons
Rock and Roll at it's best

Est. 2007

What's in a name?

Flashback what? Chameleon who?

What a strange name for a cover band! But it was meant to be!

For starters, in the internet age, when you Google "The Flashback Chameleons", our Facebook page, website, and YouTube videos will be the first things that pop up - see what we did there?! In addition, the name pretty much describes the band's mission statement in a couple of ways.

Fist off, a "flashback" usually refers to a vivid memory of an event in the past. By playing "older" music, we hope to bring back great memories to our audience members. Most people can remember how old they were, what they were doing, where they lived, who they were dating, etc. when they hear a song from those bygone days.

Secondly, many species of chameleons have the ability to change color in order to blend in and adapt to their surroundings. Just like those lovable lizards, we change our "musical colors" to please just about any member of any audience! Do you like 50's rock and roll? We got you covered! The groovy 60's? Yeah, baby, we do that too! What about the hard-rockin' 70's? You got it! We do the radical 80's and the grunge-infused 90's too!

So combine the nostalgia of the music of days gone by along with our ability to "change musical colors" at the drop of a hat, it then becomes clear why we chose such a crazy and memorable name!

(Although, we were once called "The Look-back Lizards" - true story!)

The Flashback Chameleons are a New Orleans area based rock 'n roll band made up of a group of musicians who share a wide range of musical talents, all designed to bring great music to any venue. FBC's music spans the decades, ranging from the roots of rock, through the British Invasion, and on up into the great decades of the 70's, 80's, and 90's. Even with this reputation for "flashbacks", it is not unusual to occasionally hear newer music as well. FBC's energy, along with their musical and vocal abilities, pump up the crowd and keep them asking for more! Onstage antics are another area where FBC won't disappoint. You never know what jokes, props, costumes, or other entertaining shenanigans are coming up...always fun, always entertaining.

The Band Members

Leading the band on vocals is Ray Legendre, a powerful, versatile vocalist. His "ringmaster" stage presence helps keep FBC's shows rolling! An experienced front man, Ray has a knack for impersonating popular stars (and the occasional random cartoon character!) and great comedic timing! Ray plays acoustic and electric rhythm guitar and percussion instruments to fill out FBC's sound, and involves the audience in the show whenever possible.

Lead guitarist Jason Hippler delivers the rock 'n roll goods! Playing 6 and 12 string guitars and Mandolin, Jason channels the spirit of all your favorite guitarists and also provides lead and backing vocals. Jason's goofball antics bring the band (and sometimes the audience) to hysterics! Sure to bring a smile to the face of the most timid of wall flowers, and for some reason women love to run to the stage to kiss him...(wink, wink, nudge, nudge!)

Rico Espiritu is the backbone of this driving band. Rico will blow your mind with his style and power on the drums, and with his dry humor, you never know what he will come up with! Rico provides everything from a slow, soulful shuffle to the driving bombast of the great rock 'n roll drummers, both past and present!

Danny Hack rounds out the second half of FBC's rhythm section on bass guitar as well as backing vocals. Danny's bass playing speaks with an authoritative voice and he is also quite versatile, being classically trained in double bass, piano, and violin. Danny also adds high harmony to many songs. His dry sense of humor fits right in with the band's own unique brand of silliness...or sumthin'.

Benefits and Fundraisers

The Flashback Chameleons have a tremendously large heart for all good causes, but especially Kids, First Responders and Military Personnel. The band has performed at several benefits, most recently for police officers from a neighboring parish who were shot in the line of duty and also for Kidd's Kids, an organization created by it's namesake Deejay Kidd Kraddock, that provides chronically ill and/or physically challenged children (ages 5-12) with an all expenses paid, fun-filled vacation to Walt Disney World in Florida.

If it is possible with our schedule, we always try to contribute to causes in our community. To contact the band about your benefit, send us an email at the address below.
